Fort Family Forum

Mission Statement


The Fort Family Readers Forum is a safe haven for any person to come to and find friends to help in times of need, to discuss the stories posted on Fort Family sites and other issues of importance, and to just plain have fun.

A Safe Haven – this is a place where questions, views and opinions can be expressed without being ridiculed or belittled.

Any Person – This means we welcome anyone; young, old, male, female, gay, straight, bi or undecided. Because we welcome young members, we do require certain limits on content discussed or referred to on this forum.




Fort Family Forums Members' Guidelines and Posting Guidelines:

The purpose of the following guidelines is to ensure that all members have a safe and enjoyable time while visiting our board.


Members' Guidelines:

1. As Uncle August used to say "Just have fun."

2. Posting any personal information on the board is a safety issue and not allowed; however, exchanging information in a private PM or e-mail with the consent of the other member is fine.

3. This is a private board and has no advertising of any kind.

4. Any derogatory posting on the board is inappropriate; positive intense discussions are welcomed and encouraged. Treat others as you would like to be treated. If you have a problem with another member, topic thread or the board in general, please, let a Staff Member know about it. They are there to help resolve any problems.

5. Positive and encouraging posts to Authors and Site Owners are not only welcomed but highly encouraged.

6. If a Member is uses an anonymous screen name, please respect their privacy and do not use his/her real name on the Board, this includes Private Messages/Conversations, between three or more members. This is to continue the security and safety policies of the Board.

7. The board has limited space, so, images included in posts are limited to 200 pixels tall total per post.

8. If you are not having fun, let the staff know. (A whoopee cushion can be placed in ACFan's chair.)


Posting Guidelines:

1. Since the Fort Family Forum is frequented by youth. Foul language should not be used on the board itself. If any offending words must be used, they should have a minimum of two (2) asterisks (**) replacing letters in the word. (example: sch**l, homew**k) Please try to not even use such words on the Board.

2. Links should be appropriate to the topic and the board.

3. In a response to a chapter post, do not reveal anything that occurs in that chapter. Mentions of cliffhangers are acceptable and can be reported to The Cliffhanger Police.
Please use the Board's included Spoiler Feature, unless you are posting in a thread marked for spoilers, if you want to discuss plot lines or cliffhangers. If you are unsure how to use this feature please ask a staff member.

4. Please remember that this Board is populated by real people (except in The Compound where real characters are known to lurk), and that these (real) people are just like you. So please treat all other Members with the courtesy and respect that you would like to receive from them. The 'Golden Rule' is expected to be followed by all of our members, including the staff.

5. Political material and/or 'chain letters' are not appropriate for posting on this board. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Admin Team.

6. Be careful what you say. You could get a paper bag over your head.

Responses To Not Following Guidelines:

1. Not following the above guidelines may result in actions as follows:
  • A simple edit of the post, with an explanatory Personal Message being sent to the member.
  • The post being rendered invisible or deleted with an explanatory PM sent to the member.
  • Repeats of a similar nature, could result in being placed on Moderated status, temporary suspension of board privileges, or as a last resort removal of member from the board. (This may be done with or without the assistance of a DVM.)
  • Some offences will result in AC being set loose to prank without any oversight.
2. The status of 'Moderated' is a period during which any post made by the Member must be approved by a staff member, before it becomes visible. This period will last for no less than one (1) month, and no more than six (6) months for a first occurrence. Any Member still not following guidelines during a Moderation period faces extended or even permanent Moderated status, or as a last resort, removal of the member from the Board.

3. Decisions of the Admin Team are made by a majority vote and are final. For most infractions the member will be allowed to have a dialog with the Admin Team. For issues resulting in the possible removal of a member, that member will be allowed a chance to explain their side of any dispute before a final vote is taken. Interim measures may be taken until such time as a full review can be performed.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by Personal Message or by using the "Report" Button. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
